AMBERSHAM BRIDGE - WEST SUSSEX

Listed: This two span structure crosses the river Rother and is listed grade II. It has a three ring elliptical arch barrel and cut sandstone voussoirs. The main 5.9m span was assessed at only 9t live load capacity. As a listed structure, it required a method of strengthening with a minimal effect on its appearance. The strengthening process required the accurate drilling of ten 65mm diameter holes from the road surface and the insertion of ten Cintec anchors. The work was completed in only four days. English Heritage approved the design. (Cadw have approved a similar project in Wales)
